Lunaith Species info

General background

Birth and Diet
Lunaiths are born in the dark and cold, alone, hatching from eggs on the moon surface.
After emerging from the eggs, they'll leave the moon surface and travel to other planets where they can receive moonlight, which is their main source of food; they need to be showered by moonlight routinely, but they do eat other food for pleasure.

Behavior
They are vulnerable to extreme light and high heat. However, it's in their instinct to be attracted to light and heat (physically and conceptually) even though it may be fatal to them. Perhaps due to the fact that they're born in the dark and cold.

Life phases
Egg (0-3)
They are located in the craters on the moon surface. All eggs are identical and are metallic-black in color.

Larvae (3-7)
A caterpillar-like creature. Markings can be faintly seen on their body at this stage. Once hatched from egg, larvae will leave the moon surface and heads to the earth. They consume a large amount of moonlight as they floats towards the earth, in order to fuel their transition into the humanoid-form. 

Pupa (7-10)
Once a Lunaith larvae reaches the earth surface, pupation usually begins before they meet any humans(or other creatures). That being said, some Lunaiths may take longer in their larvae stage. During pupation, the larvae will turn into a waxing crescent moon-like pupa. The pupa will grow in size as time goes by, until the Lunaith emerges from it. This process may last from months to a year.

Infant and Adolescent (10-40)
They are genderfluid at this stage. Their reproductive system have not yet matured thus won't be able to reproduce.

Crystalis (40-50)
Maturity hits at around their 40s. Crystals will grow out of their skin and cover the Lunaith until they turns into a giant crystal. Inside the crystal, changes happen within their body. Their reproductive system will be set at their determined gender (male/female/genderless) and they will no longer be able to interchange between genders. This process takes around months to years.

Adult (50-200)
Lunaith's life span averages around 200 years.


Reproduction
Lunaith parents have to travel back to their source of origin--the Moon-- to lay their eggs, since it's the only environment suitable for their incubation. They're forced to abandon their eggs shortly after laying, as there's no way they can receive moonlight when they're on the moon. They'll soon ran out of energy and die before they can see their eggs hatch. Therefore most Lunaiths will never see their parents in their entire life. Even if they do meet, they will not be able to recognize each other unless their traits resemble a lot. Both male and female Lunaiths can be gravid.

Ability
Lunaiths are able to control their own bodies' gravity. They are born without gravity (this is why they can float towards the earth), and the larvae eventually learns to control gravity as they reaches the earth. When on earth, they have this ability automatically turned on unless they are in the need of flying, since it will be a big problem if there's zero gravity (they will be floating towards the atmosphere uncontrollably) However, there do are Lunaiths who this ability doesn't come to them naturally, this is rare but it does happen. (mutation are part of the rare traits so please don't include this in your story if it's not a mutated Lun)  It will be shown by a defection on their outer appearance.

Physical trait

Height
Adult male Lunaiths' are a little higher than average human with the same maturity. Adult female and young Lunaiths have height similar to human's.

Ears
Though they may look like kemonomimis, they're actually feathers.

Wings
Those are not sleeves or capes but wings. The wings are part of them, attached to their body, its kinda silky/velvet-like in texture. The wings come with different shapes and markings.
It wont necessarily hurt if the wings get injured, since there are no nerves on the wings, but it will affect their functionality/movements.
Technically their wings work like flying squirrels. Also, these wings are also extremely cold proof.
Owners can made up parts that are not shown in the adopt ref, the back usually is a repetitive pattern of the front.

Add ons
Owners feel free to design clothings/accessories for the Lunaith. However, their anatomy and wings may make this a bit tricky so be sure you understand their anatomy.
